No Steam (Thankfully), Only a Gentle, Cooling Mist. This brush brings out the biggest purrs. However, the cats are not fans of the cooling mist. (And it is cool mist, thankfully.) I have three shorthaired black cats between two and four years old. They take good care of their own grooming but the rounded silicone teeth are able to remove so much more loose hair. The brush is easy to hold and you have the option to use the handle or to keep it tucked in and hold the brush itself. (To bring it out, push sideways rather than pull up.) The water goes in the hole in the top with the rubber cap over it; the button that turns on the misting is on the same side just below that. On the bottom of the brush are the teeth and at the center of them is the exit hole for the mist. It entirely depends on your cats of course but while it took my cats took a few minutes to sniff and accept the feel of the teeth the first time the mist came out they all freaked. One ran off, the other two leapt away to a safe distance and watched it warily. Even when I put it to my own face to show them it was fun they were seriously hesitant and in fact have not yet accepted it. Despite that I have given this brush five stars because it is well made, the teeth obviously feel good to the cats, and in my opinion it does a great job of removing loose hair. Brush: Highly recommended. Mist Feature: Uncertain; depends on cats.

Great for cats that don’t like being brushed. I have a multi-cat household where some of my cats don’t like being brushed. In fact, they hate it. It must be the standard wire bristles or something because those same cats love this brush. I think the silicone bristles must remind them of their mothers or another cat. Whatever reason, I’m so glad to have come across this. I will suggest getting your cat used to just the brush at first before using the mist function as it does make a little bit of noise while running. Not loud but I noticed a couple of my cats took off before I could brush them the first time I had it on. And to be clear, this is not steam, simply a fine mist coming out of the brush. It is the same temperature as the water you put in. This brush has a handle should you want to use it. It swivels out -doesn’t fold out. The USB cord is very short, maybe 6 inch, and does not come with a wall adapter. For that price it’s a great deal.

Safe for cats- cool mist not steam. This is described as a steam brush. I was a little leery to use this as I was concerned that my cat may get burned because I have a clothes steamer and that steam is very, very hot. I want to make it clear that I would NOT call this steam. This a cool mist. It does not get hot ever. So I just wanted to offer that reassurance in case you also wondered if this posed a safety issue for your cat. I will refer to the steam as mist in my review for clarity purposes. Now let's get on with the review. My cat was a little scared of the hissing noise that this makes at first. It is quiet but she was unfamiliar with the sound. I turned it off and then used it as a regular brush for a while. She loves being brushed so this reassured her. Then I turned on the mist and I touched it so that she could see that it was safe. I let her sniff it and then once she was comfortable I brushed her with the mist on. She really likes this. Her coat looks so shiny. She is a tortie which I think makes her less shiny normally than if she was a solid color cat, but with this she literally glows. I will say that I do not think that the mist needs to stay on for long. I think that it can be something that you turn off and on as you are brushing as she gets very wet if I leave it on for the whole time. I like the nail scissors that come with this and she was fine with me using those on her as well. I am pleased with this set. I think that it is a fair price and I would recommend.
